50+ Women Photo Shoot

50+ Women Photo Shoot

Are you a mature-aged woman that no longer likes to look in the mirror, catch sight of herself in a window or despises having her photo taken? I think many of we women over a certain age hate seeing our ourselves with the visible signs of ageing, such as wrinkles, blemishes, dull hair, and a few extra kilos surrounding our middle sections. Let’s just say that we no longer believe that we are beautiful or attractive. Well I’m here to tell you “be beautiful because you’re worth it”! I’m living proof that anyone can be made attractive with the right amount of makeup applied, hair styled, the right clothing and the right photo poses in a 50+ women photo shoot.

Before and After my Makeover

My makeover journey began earlier this year when I was contacted by a local Photographer, Mandy Lee Photography, via my Facebook page regarding the use of my website name in a proposed mature age woman photography campaign. Mandy’s words were: “I want to showcase the 50+ woman and how beautiful she really is. My photography is targeted to this age demographic as a way for them to boost their confidence and also give them beautiful photos of themselves that they love and are proud to show off”.

So after Mandy and I chatted for a while about my website she said: “I have a home studio on the Gold Coast and I would love to photograph you. My portraits are magazine style which includes professional hair and makeup and feeling like you stepped off the cover of a magazine”. So after careful deliberation I thought “why not”!

We made a consultation date where you visit the studio with the clothing that you may like to wear during your photo shoot and to go through the full details of the session. Mandy also has an extensive wardrobe of beautiful dresses and gowns that you may wear for the photo shoot. We agreed on a date and time for the actual photography session.

On the day I arrived at 9.00am and immediately had my hair and makeup done by an experienced hairdresser and makeup artist. Then it was time to dress up and hit the studio for the photo shoot. Mandy had me in various poses that felt a little awkward and foreign initially, but once I got the hang of it I was able to lift my head, jut my chin forward, drop my shoulders and “not smile too broadly”.

After almost 3 hours, there was a nice cup of tea, chocolate covered strawberries and sweets awaiting me. We made an appointment to view the photos once she’d edited and selected the best ones, that was around 10 days later.

Mandy’s photo shoot fee is $250, which I think is extremely reasonable since it includes hair and makeup, selection of dresses from her studio wardrobe, wardrobe styling and a fully guided photo shoot. If you decide to order photos from the shoot then they are extra.

However Mandy is offering a special promo for my lovely readers. Session fee of $160 and $100 credit towards portraits.

Now if my photos don’t convince you then here are some more incredible before and after photos:

I was thrilled with the results. My family and friends are amazed at the photos and I’m so happy to show people something I’m proud of. Thank you Mandy for such a great day and doing so much for my self esteem – Lesley

And here are 3 generations of beautiful women!

So, my own thoughts on my 50+ women photo shoot. Mandy immediately made me feel at ease and comfortable in my own body. She transformed me from a mature aged, dowdy woman, who rarely wears makeup, into someone I barely recognised. It did wonderful things for my self esteem and I would highly recommend the experience to other ladies. I am extremely proud of my photos.

How do you feel about being photographed as you get older? Do you find it confronting?

  7. Fabulous photos, Kathy. Like you, I’m not a fan of having my photo taken but on a recent holiday with my husband we booked a travel photo shoot.
