During these crazy times I realise that it’s difficult to even think about travel. In particular overseas travel has been put on the back burner for the majority. Those with travel plans for 2020 have now had to cancel arrangements. My husband and I are currently trying to cancel our flight, cruise and accommodation bookings…

My new backyard on the Tweed Coast of New South Wales offers the best of both worlds with exquisite beaches, rivers and creeks and a lush green hinterland, also known as the “Green Cauldron”. For hikers and walkers of all levels of experience and fitness there are literally hundreds of walking trails in the region….

It is a pretty drive across the border into the lush Green Cauldron region of New South Wales. The drive takes you along the Tweed River, through cane fields, the country town of Murwillumbah, past dairy farms and finally into rainforests. Touring the Tweed Valley is absolutely one of the musts of Tweed Heads things…

My latest expedition was a recommended 73km round-trip circling the imposing Mt Warning and Wollumbin National Park, which is recognised as part of the Gondwana Rainforest of Australia. The drive not only takes you through scenic countryside, quaint villages and world heritage-listed rainforests, but leads you to the remnant of a volcano – Mt Warning.
