Made up of over 17,000 volcanic islands, Indonesia has something unique to offer everyone. Blessed with rich jungles, imposing volcanoes, and hundreds of kilometres of gorgeous beachfront there is plenty to do and see.

Sihanoukville, the capital of the Sihanoukville Province was not the prettiest of the Asian cities I have visited, however it does have some lovely palm-fringed beaches, tropical islands and the mangrove jungles of Ream National Park.

Already a popular resort before the war, Vung Tau came to be used by Australian and American servicemen as a rest area during the Vietnam War campaign. After the war, Vung Tau was a common launching place for the Vietnamese Boat People fleeing the new regime.

The Whitsundays whips up all sorts of images in my head such as snow white sandy beaches, tropical palm fringed island resorts, coral ‘bommies’ brimming with tropical fish, the azure blue colour of the water and yachts sailing majestically, winding their way through the 74 islands, that make up the group collectively called the Whitsunday Islands.
