I have been inundating you all in the past 12 months with my wonderful photos and stories of our adventures touring around Australia. But now it is someone else’s turn to list their top Australian destinations
We are off again exploring this wonderful country of ours – Australia! On this occasion we are heading to the little known (and sometimes forgotten) island state of Australia, Tasmania.
So you want to live the high life? Well the Gold Coast is home to Australia’s tallest building, Q1, standing at 322.5 metres, that dominates the Surfers Paradise skyline. But also the Gold Coast has the fourth greatest number of skyscrapers in Australia after Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, even though it is only Australia’s sixth largest city.
On the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia we are blessed with a plethora of natural attractions. No matter the season – summer, autumn, winter or spring, Mother Nature is at her best offering all types of activities whether it be on water or land.
When it comes to rugged, untouched and untrodden terrain, Australia would have to offer some of the best wilderness locations in the world.
During our skiing days we would travel by car down to the Snowy Mountain area of New South Wales and ski at either Thredbo or Perisher Ski Resorts. If there wasn’t enough snow the ski resorts would make it so usually there was enough snow to have a passable ski.
What makes a holiday destination special? For some it is five-star all the way with top of the range accommodation, gourmet food, wines, shopping at designer brand stores and personally guided tours to the main touristy attractions.
New South Wales is rich in history, landscapes and contrasts. It’s home to sophisticated Sydney, where there is a profusion of beautiful beaches, the iconic Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Southport Spit is a narrow isthmus which splits the Southport Broadwater to the west and the Pacific Ocean to the east. At the top of the spit is the Southport Seaway which gives safe passage to boats and yachts into the safe harbour of the Southport Broadwater from the ocean.
A few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to be on assignment at one of Queensland’s sought after holiday destinations, Noosa Heads on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Whilst I was there I learnt something new about this place, and that was it abounds with natural attractions.
