Getting there

It’s always an easy flight into Brisbane but if you’re more of a road warrior, you can take a look at these great ideas for things to do between Sydney (or NSW) and Brisbane. There are a number of key holiday destinations on the way that simply can’t be missed.

Things to do in Brisbane

Once you’ve arrived, the following spots are recommended. Best of all? They’re all FREE.

  • Tour the CITY OF LIGHTS project. These are free light installations peppered throughout Brisbane city designed to make the most of the spectacular setting. The one in this picture was taken at Queensland University of Technology that’s housed within the City Botanic Gardens. Truly breathtaking.Things to do in Brisbane to suit visitors of all ages
  • Have a picnic in ROMA STREET PARKLAND. Acres upon acres of pristine parkland bordered by wonderful floral arrangements. There are climbing and play activities for the children, natural waterways and amazing waterfall arrangements designed to evoke awe and amazement.
  • Visit GOMA (The Gallery of Modern Art). It’s located in South Bank which is the Cultural Precinct bordering the Brisbane river. Entry is free and there are always an impressive variety of installations from both local and international artists. There is a Children’s Art Centre designed to keep the little ones active and inspired. It’s easy to get to via public transport and there’s plenty of parking as well as cafes and art stores.Things to do in Brisbane to suit visitors of all ages
  • Visit the Kangaroo Point Cliffs. You can take an easy stroll up top or, for the more adventurous, walk down the cliffs to the walkways below. This is the perfect spot to watch the sun set (or rise) over one of Australia’s most liveable cities.

Things to do in Brisbane – a city of choice!

For something entirely different consider doing a Brisbane Whale Watching Cruise in stunning Moreton Bay.

There are things to do in Brisbane that would suit any budget. A wide variety of restaurants and eateries (including the fabulous EAT STREET MARKETS on the Hamilton foreshore). Cultural experiences. Animal encounters like LONE PINE KOALA SANCTUARY. Just so many things to do in Brisbane for not only the young but the young at heart as well.

I love Brisbane….has such a nice feel to it for a big city. Still haven’t had a proper walk through the Botanic Gardens though.

Yes I agree Mel. I always enjoy a visit to Brisbane. The Botanic Gardens are lovely to walk through and also along the riverwalk.
