Spread the love
All across Australia the month of December means three things: The beginning of Summer; School Holidays and Christmas. Now that my kids are adults and school holidays are a distant memory, for some reason December and Summer always makes me feel as though I’m on holidays anyway! So here’s what I’m lovin’ about December:
My neighbourhood is ablaze with fiery red Poincianas, purple and white Agapanthus and Frangipanis in a variety of colours.
Stone fruits are aplenty in the fruit & veggie markets with succulent mangoes, cherries, nectarines, peaches, apricots and plums.
There is nothing more therapeutic that an early morning beach walk in the soft white sand prior to embarking on a busy day of work.
I like to choose a colour theme each year and spend time selecting new decorations for the tree. This year I chose aqua blue, silver and white.
Isn’t it the truth? The best thing about December is getting together with family and friends and celebrating the festive season with good food and a few Summer cocktails.
What are you lovin’ about December? Do you like this time of year?

December 8, 2016I love all of the things you have mentioned Kathy and you look lovely in your white dress. Love a white dress at Christmas. I love December for the Festive Season, the preparation and putting up the tree and most of all sharing this special time with my darling grandson, who I just love to bits. Your post made me feel happy and grateful for all that I have. Have a beautiful day and thanks for hosting the link up.

December 8, 2016It’s nice to hear someone who is as positive as I am about this month. I spoke to a young girl at a coffee shop yesterday and she said I was the first cheerful customer she had served all day. There must be so many stressed grumpy people around because of the pressure of Christmas and getting everything done in time. I wish people would simplify their lives and not get so wound up in the materialistic side of Christmas. We need to enjoy it for what it is and to me that is bringing families together. Thanks for your kind words Sue and I’m envious that you have a darling little grandson. :) #TeamLovinLife

December 8, 2016Yes I agree. It is a toss up between stone fruits and berries. I’m devouring heaps of mangoes and lovin’ it! #TeamLovinLife

December 8, 2016Loving the fruit. Want to be loving the summer cocktails a bit more.:)
Kathy
December 8, 2016There is nothing better than a fruity punch made with Pimms, lemonade, dry ginger ale with pieces of fruit and mint mixed through. It really makes me feel summery. :) #TeamLovinLife

December 8, 2016Mmm cocktails, put my name on one of those. I too just love the stone fruit and I am eagerly awaiting the ripening of our raspberries.
Kathy
December 8, 2016You must try a fruity Pimms punch Jan – they are delicious and such an appropriate cocktail for summer. I’m lovin’ raspberries too at the moment along with scrumptious mangoes! :) #TeamLovinLife

December 8, 2016I love all those things too. Right now I’m in England and loving the cold days and morning frosts. I’m loving watery winter sunlight and days when the sun sets at 4.30pm and the fire goes on and the hot tea and crumpets come out. I’m also loving the way that you’ve done your collages in this post :)
Kathy
December 8, 2016I’d forgotten you were over in the home country. It is the complete reversal to what we are experiencing here in our Aussie Summer. My daughter is in Canada skiing at the moment so she will be experiencing a White Christmas. I love putting a little time and effort into photo collages. They are so much fun. Enjoy the cold weather and frosts. :) #TeamLovinLife

December 8, 2016I love summer fruit and hanging out in the pool or down the beach. Sounds like you are loving the warmer weather.
Kathy
December 8, 2016I am enjoying the warm weather, except we are experiencing high humidity, many thunderstorms and lots of rain at present. I can handle the heat but hate the high humidity. You feel hot and sweaty all the time. Aren’t the Summer fruits the best? :) #TeamLovinLife

December 8, 2016Sadly I have few Christmas get-togethers on my agenda, but I have family coming to stay at Christmas so made a bit more of an effort with the decorations this year!
I need to get out on more morning walks as I feel so good when I do!
Kathy
December 8, 2016We are only having a small family Christmas lunch as my daughter is away skiing in Canada. Otherwise we have a street Christmas party in my neighbourhood which is a lot of fun and then after Christmas we are having a big family get together and having a picnic on Currumbin Creek. :)

December 8, 2016I do love everything about December—plus the fact that it’s my birthday month.
I used to hate that I’d get birthday/christmas gifts, but luckily I’ve grown up!!

December 8, 2016Happy Birthday Jodie! Yes I can understand why December would be a bad month to have a birthday when you’re young. Once you get to my age birthdays are a pain in the butt! Thanks for linking up today. #TeamLovinLife

December 8, 2016I love seeing the poincianas in bloom, and as for stone fruit – LOVE LOVE LOVE stone fruit! In fact I ate so many plums when I was pregnant with Mr 22 that my workmates used to joke that I would give birth to a 7lb plum!!!
Kathy
December 8, 2016The Poincianas are glorious this time of year. Ha ha, I used to drink banana smoothies by the hundreds when I was pregnant with my son. I’m not so much into plums but I adore mangoes. :) #TeamLovinLife

December 8, 2016There’s so much to love about December. Yes, the Poincianas are just delightful at the moment – they’ve taken over from the Jacarandas. Not loving the current summer storms thought, they’re interfering with my walking regime!! ;) #TeamLovinLife
Kathy
December 8, 2016Yes it is as if the Poincianas replace the Jacaranda blooms. You and me both! I’m not enjoying this unsettled weather either. I hate the humidity and the early morning storms that also prevent me from early morning beach walks. :)

December 10, 2016What I love most about December are the gardenias. The smell is sublime!! That and mangoes. Oh and coconut scented sunscreen.
Kathy
December 10, 2016Gardenias do smell divine, but I also adore the scent of Jasmine on a sultry Summer evening. Mangoes are my favourite Summer fruit hands down and yes coconut smelling sunscreen is very summery and tropical. :)

December 10, 2016I prefer spring to summer as it gets a bit too hot here for me, and I don’t like being out in the hot sun for too long. But it does mean summer fun at the pool or beach with the grandies, catching up with friends in the evening, family get-togethers for Christmas, and relaxing with a good book. Have fun!
Kathy
December 11, 2016Yes I know what you mean about the heat. It can be too hot to get out in the sun and I hate to get sunburnt at my age. I like to get up early and go for a beach walk and then enjoy the cooling sea breezes in the late afternoon. :)
