New Year New Skin!!

012

I have never been an advocate for cosmetic surgery or any other invasive treatments in a vain attempt to regain my former youthful self. I always maintain that I would like to age graciously and that wrinkles are my “badge of honour” for having lived a full life. However, I do like to take care of my skin and I don’t mind trying new products to help reduce some of the maladies of ageing skin, like wrinkles, age spots and decrease in elasticity.

When Skin Doctors asked me to try some of their range of age reduction skin products I was very keen to give them a go. Naturally I was a little skeptical about some of their claims like “visibly reduces the appearance of wrinkles and expression lines” and “instantly activates your skin cells to reduce wrinkles, smooth fine lines and lift sagging skin”.

The products arrived on Christmas Eve and I have been using them faithfully twice a day since. I decided that I would give the products two weeks to see if there was any marked improvement in my skin before I would write this review. Now that I have reached that stage I have come to the conclusion that the four products that I have been using have definitely made a difference to my skin and in particular my complexion looks brighter, smoother and firmer.

According to Skin Doctors, as we age, our skin gets thinner, drier and less resilient. The elastin and collagen fibres which hold your skin taunt, slacken and loosen, therefore the skin begins to sag and wrinkle. Our skin’s ability to protect itself from damage is also reduced as we age. Eventually, wrinkles, creases and lines form in our skin.

From the above photo you can see that I have deep furrows between my eyes, crows feet around my eyes, saggy skin above both eyes, lines on my upper lip and the beginnings of marionette lines that run from the corners of my mouth to down along my chin. I don’t like how I look in closeup photos at all and sometimes when I look in the mirror I am very unhappy with the ageing image before me. I guess I wouldn’t be normal if I didn’t feel this way.

The anti-ageing products that I was given to trial are as follows:

Skin Doctors Beetox

Skin Doctors Beetox – Bee venom treatment with manuka honey which “fools” the skin into thinking it has been lightly stung with the compound melitten. This results in increased blood circulation to the deep layer of the skin, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin.

Skin Doctors Relaxaderm Advance – Wrinkle relaxer with the power of Dermatox-63, an exclusive combination of active ingredients synergistically formulated to visibly reduce the appearance of wrinkles and expression lines by nearly two thirds in just 28 days.

skin_doctors_gamma_hydroxy

Skin Doctors Gamma Hydroxy Forte – Ultra concentrated skin resurfacing cream with a continual skin sloughing action of powerful hydroxy acids and retinol which acts as a “time released” peel gradually resurfacing the skin, without soreness of down time.

Skin Doctors Instant Eyelift

Skin Doctors Instant Eyelift – Eye lifting serum which works within minutes to temporarily reduce the appearance of wrinkles, bags, puffiness and agelines.

My skin regime for the past two weeks was to thoroughly cleanse my face and neck area with a cleanser and pat it dry. Then I applied the four products in this order:

The Beetox cream is very light on your skin and easy to apply. It has a slight honey fragrance and feels lovely on your skin. I certainly didn’t feel any effects like “being stung by bee venom” or any other side effects.

Gamma Hydroxy Forte is a thicker yellow coloured cream which gives your skin a light tingling sensation after application. However the tingling soon subsides and did not make my skin red or sore.

Relaxaderm Advance is light cream which is easily applied on your face and neck areas. It made my face feel tighter and firmer.

Instant Eyelift is a clear serum that you apply around your eye area and it did have the immediate result of opening up my eyes by reducing the bagginess above my eyes.

The instant effect that I felt after applying these four products was a feeling of slight plumpness and tightness on my face. My deep forehead furrows between my eyes definitely reduced almost immediately and also the crows feet around my eyes. Lines around my upper lip have smoothed a little. Overall my complexion looks brighter, clearer and firmer. I truly believe that the Skin Doctors products have made a difference to my aged skin and have made me look more youthful.

Skin Doctors do have an extensive range of skin products for all types of skin problems and pride themselves as being a “problem-solution” brand. They are the industry leaders in the development of breakthrough clinical strength cosmeceuticals that offer consumers topical alternatives to cosmetic procedures and surgery. Skin Doctors products are based on cutting edge formulations developed in conjunction with leading research institutes and skin specialists, utilising the latest in skin care actives and formulations, with a solution for every skin care problem.

So see for yourself. The top photo was taken prior to using the products and the second photo was after a week. I think the results speak for themselves!

Wow, I will find it hard to change my skin care range. Have thought about having some needle procedures. Pity I’m afraid of needles. I also find it hard to believe and trust in the advertising and media. I’ll have a closer look at the range, thanks for the review Kathy. You always look great, I think your great attitude to life shows in your lovely face x

Yeah me too Rae, but I am a convert now. The Skin Doctors products have made my skin look refreshed and smoothed out some of my wrinkles. I even went out and bought their day cream with 50 SPF sun protection for my upcoming cruise to South-East Asia. Thank you so much for the lovely compliment. I do try to keep a positive attitude towards life and enjoy myself. Life is way too short to think otherwise! :)

I’m always skeptical about skin creams too Kathy but these products do seem from the photos to have made a difference to your skin. I think the best test is how our skin feels because it can feel just bleugh as it ages so anything to plump it up is a bonus. Will be keen to see more in a few months time.

I’ve never been one who uses a lot of beauty products, but I like how these ones feel on my skin. Our harsh sun in Australia certainly contributes to ageing skin. I try to protect myself as much as I can. Hoping these products may help a little. So far so good! ?
