Tops that are Flattering not Fattening!

008

Like a lot of women my age I’m always on the lookout for tops that cover my tummy and hip area that don’t look like a shapeless sack. The dreaded middle-aged spread has taken over my body and I no longer have a flat tummy and in fact most pairs of jeans or pants give me ‘muffin top’.

I’m certainly not ready to resort to unflattering oversized tops or spending my life doing endless situps and surviving on a lettuce leaf in an attempt to recapture my svelte figure!  I have found that most tops for mature aged women cover the middle-aged spread but they are also shapeless and in most cases make us look bigger than we actually are.

You can imagine my delight when I discovered a great range of tops from an online store called Covered Perfectly. All the tops are made from the super-soft MicroModal® fabric which is made of European beechwood and is completely natural. It feels like a second skin on your body and is lightweight and breathable.

But not only that, they are designed with the middle-aged woman in mind and cover all the right parts perfectly, like upper arms and tummies. They are not only good at hiding problem areas but they are a flattering cut. Most tops nip in a little at the waist and flare out nicely over the hips.

When I tried my top on it instantly felt soft and comfortable and it was the right length to cover my tummy and hip area. I chose a colour block top in the black/teal colour combination, but there were plenty of other colour choices. I teamed the top with a soft silky pair of drapey pants but it would look equally as good with skinny leg jeans or leggings.

For all of my lovely readers Covered Perfectly are offering a 20% discount for any purchase of up to two tops. Just use the code: 50SOA when ordering. Covered Perfectly are a US based store but they will post to anywhere in the world.

Disclaimer: I wish to advise that I was not paid to write this product review however it was a sample given to me by the company for the purpose of reviewing.

The Covered Perfectly top looks really flattering on you Kathy. I love that colour on you too. I so agree about not wanting to wear huge floppy cover-ups, but alternatively I don’t want my muffin top bulging out all over the place either ;)

Thanks Jo. I’m not that comfortable doing the fashion modelling thing. I always feel extremely awkward! I did feel that this top was flattering however and hid the muffin top. :)

Thanks Rae. I’m extremely uncomfortable in front of the lens. Yes I know what you mean about bras digging into back fat. It is a bit unsightly and one of the things about aging that sucks. I did really love the top – it was so soft and comfy.

    Lovely, flattering top!
Just wondered if you had any advice on sizes? They say 8-10 is a medium?

The tops are gorgeous. The fabric is so soft and light and the cut of the top just perfect. I’m a size 12-14 Aussie so I think that translates to a size 8-10 American.

Great idea and product. I really have to wear sleeves now. My upper arms look like porridge. The tummy isn’t great either. I love the black panelling down the sides. Very slimming Kathy.

What I liked about the top was the fabric. It felt very lightweight and cool. I normally can’t stand sleeves in the warmer weather but I think this fabric could be ok to wear. The reason I chose this top was because of the black panelling – I need all the help I can get! :)

I know exactly what you mean about wanting a top with some shape, but not a sack to disguise the bumps that have appeared from where? You look lovely Kathy. Great choice with the slimline pants.

Mmm I don’t know where those bumps and lumps have appeared from! Possibly too many Sav Blancs and nibbles!! It just sucks that our middle-aged bodies decide to expand around the hip and tummy area. I’m still wondering where my lovely trim figure went. Thanks Jenny for the compliment :)

Love the colour and style – and it really suits you! The companies of the future are those who look at the average person demographics and work out what best suits them, not companies who try to make everyone fit THEIR idea – this one looks like a winner!

Thanks Red. I couldn’t agree more. I get so tired of trying to find flattering clothing that doesn’t make me look like a granny.
